Design of DC motor control function module based on VHDL

With the development of society, the application of Dc Motor is more and more common, and the requirement of DC Motor control mode is also increasing. In this paper, the design of DC motor function module based on NiosII soft core processor is proposed by using SOPC solution newly developed by Altera company, and the IP core of VHDL code generation function module is given. The generation of IP core is not only convenient for designers to use flexibly, save resources, but also greatly shorten the design cycle. Designers can call IP core directly to form NiosII system, and then download the system to FPGA. IP core not only can be used in motor control, but also can be used to control some other small appliances, full-color LED, etc.
Overall hardware design of DC motor
As shown in Figure 1, the whole system is controlled by FPGA chip, and its control core is NiosII soft core CPU of Altera company. This paper focuses on the design and generation of two control function modules, PWM module and speed measurement module. The two control function modules are designed and generated by VHDL hardware description language, which can be called IP core. They are compiled and simulated by QuartusII to verify their correctness. Finally, the generated user-defined interface function module is added to the top-level schematic diagram to complete the design of the whole speed regulation system.
